Jade is a semiprecious gem contains Jadeite or nephrites and located or unearthed the gem is not an easy job. Jade is very popular in China and it has inspired a Chinese master Jade Wu Jinde to create the grandest and largest Jade Sculpture in the history.
This picture below is a miniature of Confucian temple in Qufu Shandong. Wu jinde name the artwork same as the name of the original temple. The size of the small temple is 1/10th from the temple’s original scale and he took 10 tons of green glazed jade plus 5 kg of 24-karats gold leaf to materialize his masterpiece.
The Confucian temple is a handcraft and he picked the best 10 tons of green glazed jade from 100 tons available green glazed jade. He spent more than 45,000 hours of workloads and the last result is a magnificent confusion temple miniature stretching 6.3 meters long, standing 3.54 meter high and spanning 5.7 meters wide
Wu jinde composed the door and the windows of the Confucius temple with hollowed out symbols and figures mainly dragon. He decorated the main hall and the hanging board with dragon figures made of 24-karat of gold leaf. Wu Jinde inlaid other dragon’s figures on the 10 pillars, 18 octagonal pillars, the roof of the veranda, and the bottom of Temple that is made of rosewood. Totally, Wu jinde has handcrafted nearly 2000 flying dragons figures to beauty the Confucius temple and mainly all of those made of 24-karat gold leaf. Beside world’s largest jade sculpture, this masterpiece must be one of the priciest masterwork in the world
